methotrexate for ectopic pregnancy?
Hi
I am looking for a little bit of advice from any ladies who have been through a similiar experience. I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy at 6+4 weeks.
Monday 5th Sept - 1st shot of meth HCG was 726.
Thurs 8th Sept - hcg rose to 942 (i was warned this would happen)
Sun 11th sept - hcg dropped but only by 6%, when they need to drop by 15% so they gave me another shot of meth
Wed 14th Sept - dropped by 9% after two days of agony with 'seperation pains' and some pale pink spotting and light bleeding
I have to go back on Saturday when it has to have dropped by 15% or they will offer me a third and final shot of meth or offer surgery.
Frustratingly I am not bleeding which I was told would be a good sign. I did bleed quite heavily in my 6th week, prior to finding out it was ectopic and on my scans the lining of my womb was very thin.
I just want this is be over - it heartbreaking to lose a pregnancy but this is just taking so long and now I just want it over with :-( I don't want surgery but this medicine isn't working as it should. I have avoided all vitamins and folic acid rich foods to optimise it effects but what else can I do.
Has anyone else needed 3 shots? Has anyone else had very minimal bleeding?

I'm so sorry your going through this... I don't have a similar experience. I had one shot of Methotrexate on the 18th August when my HCG level was 2100.. On the 4th day they were 2900 and on the 7th day they were all the way down to 400 and the next week they were at 75 then the week after my level was 1 and didn't need anymore testing. I was told my body reacted extremely well and they have only ever seen a handful of cases to be over so fast ( 3 weeks in total ).. But mine was only suspected ectopic because my levels weren't doubling every 2 days ( rising by 53% ) and the u/s showed a small sac in my uterus and a lesion in my right tube so they thought i actually had an interuterine pregnancy that was failing and an ectopic at the same time... But i didn't start bleeding until 10 days after my shot and the pain was so bad. I didnt absorb the pregnancy like they said i would i passed it ( i didnt know about the interutering pregnancy until i seen my gp who went over my papers from the EPAU ).. i bled for 7 days then 1 week 2 days later i had my first period which was alot lighter and only lasted a couple of days.. i hope you don't need the 3rd shot and all goes to plan on your next blood test

Im sorry with regard to the discomfort and misery you're dealing with. I dont understand how long it is going to final, yet i'd call the prevalent practitioner in basic terms to ensure that bleeding and discomfort ought to nonetheless be happening. I think of the bleeding is wide-spread, because of the lining of the uterus having been geared up up by ability of being pregnant hormones. in basic terms to ensure, call your prevalent practitioner. attempt to maintain hydrated too
