Why do Christians believe in a Triune God (Three in One)?

I have difficulty in believing when God All Mighty was the Son, who sustained the Earth and The Cosmos. And when he was the Son He prayed to God? Prayed to himself? He pleaded on the cross: My God! My God! Why has Thou forsaken me? He, supposing to be God, has forsaken himself?

Update:

I don't really buy the story and the quotes from the Bible. The quotes rendered seem only as vague justifications which Jewish scholars can use to prove their heroes as well. As for the egg stories, well folks, if I was a shop owner and you came to buy eggs by me and I gave you only shells (bearing in mind it is all ONE and the SAME thing), you'd be very angry with me.

The trinity dogma is NOT found in the Bible. I am a Christian who does not believe the trinity; I believe what the Bible really teaches about this and everything else.

The nature of God and the nature of Christ is beyond us to encompass. The triune God is an attempt to explain it. So don't feel too bad about not understanding it, just trust that JEsus is the way, the truth, and the life. You know, getting saved is a beginning, it doesn't mean you have to understand the trinity or anything like that. If God wants to teach you, He might persuade you to believe whatever you find out later. But don't use the triune nature of God as a road block. It's not worth fighting about.

The origin of the trinity is Babylonian.

Queen Semiramis of Babylon became known as "Ishtar" which is pronounced "Easter". Semiramis claimed that she was immaculately conceived. This was to have happened at the time of the first full moon after the spring equinox, her moon egg became known as "Ishtar's" egg."

Ishtar soon became pregnant and claimed that it was god that caused her to conceive. The son that she brought forth was named Tammuz. Tammuz was believed to be the son of god. The day came when Tammuz was killed. 3 days later, that being the dawn of the Sunday after the vernal equinox.

Queen Ishtar told the people that Tammuz was now ascended to his father, and that the two of them would be with the worshipers as Father, Son and Spirit.

Simply change the name Tammuz to jesus, a name that is less than 400 years old, as its 1st appearance is after 1630. The old Greek manuscripts contain no name only a title meaning "Anointed". Later a name was inserted, but has changed many times over. Iso, Iao (name of an crucified ancient Britain savior) I Zeus, Iesous (appears in the original 1611 KJV) In Malaysia the Roman Catholic church won the right to call jesus Allah.

    Dear Friend,

God is Spirit. He is yes, a Triune God.

What is interesting is, we don't have a problem believing that an EGG .. is three in one. An egg has a shell, a white and a yoke. It can be divided and used independently from the other.

But just think...The Trinity had NEVER been apart in such a way like this before. God the Father was going to turn AWAY and not look upon Jesus. He was for a measure... going to separate Himself from Jesus (the second Person of the Trinity) because of "our" horrific sin. Jesus for that period of time was abandoned, alone until He accomplished redemption for us. We did that to Jesus. Our sin.

We have a finite mind and we can never comprehend or even come close to knowing the mind of God. I believe ...beyond a shadow of a doubt Whom He is. Why? Because I do have a spiritual intimate and personal relationship with the One who love mes more than life itself and is the lover of my soul. He offers that same relationship with all His creation. It is a matter of accepting or rejecting.

As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15

    Blessings,

The Lord Jesus came down from Heaven to life a sinless life as a man. God commands men to pray to Him and the Lord Jesus obeyed that command. In some instances He said that...

John 11:41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, "Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me."

...He knew that He didn't have to pray because his Father always heard Him but He prayed so that people could see that He really came from God.

When Jesus was on the cross, the human part of Him called out to "God" instead of to His Father in fulfillment of prophetic Scriptures.

Psalms 22:1 My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning?

The Bible teaches that God has revealed Himself to humanity as "one God, in three persons".

Deuteronomy 6:4 "Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!

John 10:30 I and My Father are one." 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. 32 Jesus answered them, "Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?" 33 The Jews answered Him, saying, "For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God."

Acts 5:3 But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? 4 While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."

1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God....14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

    Jesus said:

Go and baptize all nations in the name of The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.

Jesus is both God and man (hypostatic union). His Divine Nature is coequal to two other Persons while His human nature is subject to His Divine Nature (God) and does not even possess unlimited knowledge. We cannot use either nature to belittle or negate the other.

Jesus was God but He was also a human being. A human being with human emotions and human feelings in His body.

He is separate from God. Someone asked Jesus, "when will you return?" and Jesus replied, "I dont know, nor do the angels know...only HE who sent me knows." The Triune God doctrine is man-made.
