Christians: have you sold your your possessions and given your money to the poor?
Your messiah has commanded it.

Or do you just follow the parts that are convenient?
OOoohhhh... I get it... So, while Jesus (he's the guy you allege to follow, right?) never said anything about gay marriage or at what point life begins, you think you are privy to his divine will on those subjects... BUT the things the bible claims he actually said (like humility and helping the poor) don't apply to you because he wasn't talking to you SPECIFICALLY...
And you guys wonder why people on the whole are turning away from religion. Your hypocrisy is just staggering and nauseating.

Many Christians ignore the inconvenient verses.
Ever seen Neil Cavuto? He talks about being a Christian and gets angry when gay marriage gets rights, but then when people point out the charity verses he uses cognitive dissonance around them.
Expect some cognitive dissonance here too.

No. Please, continue to advise me. Sometimes pronouncements from curmudgeons become prophetic bringing me closer to God.
Let me tell you a little of our history. After a time we became the established religion of the Roman Empire. The biting comments about wealth and taking care of widows and orphans became less practiced becuase Christianity was invaded by insincere people and some Christian leaders soften their preaching the powerful and the wealthy. (Just like today.)
The practices of the Apostles and their church changed. Some people decried this and a few of them did do what you call for. They became hermits. After a time hermits came to live in a community.
There are today Catholic religious brothers and sisters who are the spiritual descendents of these people. A few of us still give up wealth, live in community and serve the poor. Not just religious either. Lay people, too. Read the biography of Dorothy Day; learn about Catholic Action and the Catholic Worker movement.

Jesus told that PARTICULAR MAN to give everything to the poor and FOLLOW JESUS. Well, Jesus doesn't have an earthly ministry any more. He is in heaven. If Jesus was walking the earth today then, yes, I would sell everything in an instant and follow Him. I'd also sell everything and give it to the poor if He asked me today in prayer.

When you prove yourself to be God THEN and only then will I give an account of my actions to you.
But, where is the 'command' in Mt19:21, is not your understanding of Christ confused?
What about your accounting, why do you worry yourself about my salvation?

Jesus did not command all people to do this. He was talking to one person. God commanded Abraham to sacrifice his son. So therefore, God wants you to sacrifice your son also, should you have at least one.

Nope. Jesus spoke those words to someone who had a problem with materialism. I don't have that problem.

No. You?
You might want to re-read that passage and see for yourself who was commanded to do this thing.
