3 year old's sleep habits?

is there any way to "teach" sleeping in; at least on the weekends? Our 3 year old has always been an early riser. It is not abnormal for her to be up at 6am, sometimes earlier. This is not a problem during the week. My husband gets up early for work, and we all just get up with him. However, she ends up waking her baby brother in some form or another.

I realize this is part of being a parent. However, sleeping in until 730 or 800 would be nice on the weekends. I am not looking to sleep all day (i wish, haahaa!).

So, if you have been in my shoes, what have you done to get a little bit of shut eye on the weekend?

Thanks!

Update:

oh gosh i guess i should have added a couple things. thanks for your responses so far.

even if i put her to bed at a later time she STILL wakes up at the crack of dawn. omg, its nuts! :)

i also have a 1 year old. the kids don't always nap at the same time, so getting a nap in is not always possible. but i'm not much of a napper anyways. i do realize that i cannot "change" my daughter's sleeping habits. that is why i am posting about ideas on how to teach her, or tweak her routine on the weekend.

thanks!

The most important advice, especially with a one-yr old, is to read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Children." Regardless of your feelingstowardf sleep training (or not), this book gives you a scientific basis - in layman's terms - for understanding the concept and importance of sleep in children, as well as suggestions on dealing with every kind of issue.

Have her go to bed a little later, so she will sleep in later.

Make sure you tire her out during the day, so she will sleep in.

    Good Luck :)

A 3 year old can not change waking habits because you want her to, or because it's the weekend.

You could try to get her to play quietly when she gets up early.

Just take a nap when she takes a nap.
