How did you do it? help me pleasssse...?

I'll be detailed here. Two days ago I had my daughter's tongue fixed (she's tongue tied) and started breastfeeding her. Yesterday my left nipple bled already so I went back to formula. As much as I want to pump and/or do hand expression I can't coz all she wanted is for mommy to hold and carry her. (even now she's crying while I'm typing and is breaking my heart).

About 2 weeks ago I bought "milk more plus" to increase my milk supply (from pumping and hand expression) and I'm still low.

I am so frustrated already. to the point of giving up. My husband will kill me if I give up. Seems like if I don't breastfeed I am a bad mom.

You are not a bad mom if you don't breastfeed but Good for you for trying so hard. There should be a lactation consultant at the hospital or your doctor may be able to refer you to someone. Sometimes women need help. My mother breastfed 6 kids but had to have professional help getting the 4th to latch so even experienced moms need help sometimes Don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask a professional for help. If you still can't get it to work you are not a bad mom. Breastfeeding doesn't determine good or bad parenting. Loving and caring for your child makes you a good mom.

and I'm not one of those anti breastfeeding people I breastfed my son to 13mo and my 14om old daughter is still breastfed. I just know it doesn't work out for everyone. Thank God they have formula that is almost as good for babies as breast milk.

You need to get an electric pump asap. You can rent these from medical supply stores. Call your local lactation consultant to find out where to get these.

To make milk you will need to breastfeed or pump often. Every 2 to 3 hours.

You can take the herbs daily. They do help alot. I use Breastea from http://www.breastea.com/ and it has increased my milk supply tremendously. The thing is though you have to be breastfeeding or pumping often for your body to make milk.

    Hi,

To avoid sore nipples don't wash your nipples with soap when showering, or bathing. And to get an increased breast milk supply; the mommy can drink 5-7 glasses of water, 1 glass of milk a day, be in a relaxed mood daily. Also when the mommy eats tuna, that increases your breast milk supply. Other breastfeeding ideas http://hubpages.com/hub/Breastmilk

As you have, had her tongue clipped, best advice would to speak to a lactation consultant to assess her latch. Bleeding nipples are caused by an incorrect latch. I had my daughters tongue clipped at 4 days old. I had to teach her to re latch correctly over again once the procedure was done.

When my son's tongue tie was clipped I had the same problem. I used a nipple shield for a few days to help teach him to latch onto me without tearing me apart. It was about $7, and worth every penny. Try to only use it for as long as you really have to though.

Call the hospital where you delivered and set up an appointment with the lactation consultant or get in touch with a leader from your local LLL...they'll get you on the right track.
