  • Dental emergency? Can it wait or not?

I've had a cavity for a really long time but no money or insurance to get it fixed. Now I will have dental insurance in 1 month, but of course now I think I may have an emergency and don't know if I can wait until my insurance kicks in to see a dentist.

Above the tooth, I have a swollen little ball-like pocket in my gums. It is painful to the touch. I don't know if I can treat it at home for a month, otherwise I'll go into debt paying for it now.

    Thoughts?

  • Slow Cooker help shortening cooking time?

How can I safely shorten the cooking cooking time for a chicken recipe that says to cook on low for 8 hours? I only have 6 or 6 1/2 hours to cook it.

  • Help with toddler feeding? 10 POINTS!?

My twins are 20 months old and I wondering when they will be ready to eat whole fruits and veggies, not cut up. Right now of course I still cut up all fruits and veggies for the most part, but wondering at what age can you give them things whole? Also, when do you stop removing the skin from fruits?

A whole, skin or skinless pear or apple cooked to soften (do seeds that small pose a problem?)

A whole peach, with the pit removed

A banana, peeled but whole and not diced up

whole watermelon slice but not diced

etc...those are just some that came to mind immediately! Thanks!

  • BEST ANSWER Call in sick for a job interview? Please help, urgent!!?

My husband has had his resume on a job site for quite a while and forgot about it until today. He got a message from a great company who is persuing him for a better job! He is already working and they want to see him Friday morning, when he should be at work. He is paid hourly, and would not get paid for either being late or calling in sick. Now, my husband isn't really a liar, so he is very confused on what to do. He wants the new job but doesn't want to burn bridges. What should he do?

  • How do I potty train my 18 month old daughter?

I have boy/girl twins but want to wait on potty training my son as he isn't as interested yet.

I have a few potty seats and throughout the day she loves to just run up and sit on the potty, fully clothed or naked, it doesn't matter. She will make grunting noises and "pssssss" noises with her mouth and thinks that's funny (lol). She will put her dolls and bears on the potty and make the noises too.

So far, she only actually peed in the potty once, and actually she sat too far to the edge so essentially she peed on the floor (but I praised her of course for the effort).

I feel like these seem to be good indicators that she is or is near ready. What do you think? What do you suggest?

  • HELP are car seats supposed to do that?!?

My convertible car seat is rear facing. Followed the directions perfectly, exactly what it said to do, and it looks exactly like the diagram does.

Well, if you put your hand behind the head rest, the entire car seat can be flipped toward the back seat. It really seems so dangerous but I'm positive it is installed correctly. I checked the directions several times and so did my husband.

Do all rear-facing car seats do this?

  • Was that his first haircut?

We took my son to have his bangs trimmed when he was 13 months. They only did his bangs and didn't touch the back of his head at all. I thought that was his first haircut but now everyone is telling me that it doesn't count because they didn't trim all of his hair and only did his bangs. I already wrote it in the baby book and everything :/

    Thoughts?

  • I REALLY need help with my husband.?

My husband and I used to be so great together. Even our pastor told us she'd NEVER seen a more compatible couple. After our twins were born (now 1 1/2 years) the financial burden ahas really taken a toll. He is working full time and taking two college classes. He also has depression but we cannot afford the medication and do not qualify for discounts on the medication. So, he is unmedicated.

I stay at home with our twins but have also started working part-time online. I got the job to try to relieve some of the burden from him financially.

I'm seriously getting 4 to 5 1/2 hours of sleep per night, every night. I do all of the housework, all of the childcare (save one diaper change per night) and now working as well.

Anyway, my husband over the last few months has started to blow-up and scream at me constantly, over nothing. It seems like everything I say he interperates as me being disrespectful and unloving. Seriously. I'll tell him for the 10 billionth time to pick his dirty underwear PILE off of the bedroom floor and he will scream at ME over the way I told him to pick it up. Seriously.

It's getting to the point, I don't even want to talk to him at all. He can't constantly scream at me for ridiculous nonsense all the time. Yeah, he has depression, I get it (I used to have depression for 10 years, not anymore) but that doesn't mean you can ruin other people's lives.

I can't talk to him about it. I've been attempting to for months, and he always just starts screaming at me. I try to take the blame so he doesn't feel attacked, but he still says I am blaming him for everything.

I don't know what to do. Please help me :'(

  • My daughter seems to want to start potty training?

My DD is 18 months old (today!) and we have a potty chair in her room. Yesterday, I took off her diaper and wiped her down and then she ran right over to the potty. She sat down and peed, but she wasn't far back enough on the chair, so she peed directly on the floor, lol.

This was all pretty random! Any potty training ideas for her? Thank you!

  • How can I make this recipe?

I've been trying to think of a healthy veggie snack that is portable and easy for my 1 1/2 year olds to eat. I'm running out of healthy stuff they can actually eat and don't want to load them up with junk food.

My idea is shreaded veggies either baked or on the stovetop, formed into what would basically look like a hash brown with no or little potato. A little bit of cheese is okay, but I want it to be primarily veggies.

    Any ideas??

  • HELP please, is this written in 2nd person?

It has been so long since I learned this that I seem to have become very foggy on the topic!

Is this 2nd person, or would "you" have to be used?:

Go to the store and buy some pencils.

  • Is this healthy for toddlers?

I'm looking into buying a new slow cooker to cook for my babies. This one says the cooker "is rich in natural minerals: kaolin, quartz and mica, with a high content of iron oxide". That sounds great, but is that good for young children? Thank you!

  • Slow cooker safety, leachable lead and poly-resin blends?

I cook for my family (including my toddlers) in the slow cooker up to 5 nights per week.

I am concerned about lead leaching from the crock.

I've looked into slow cooker liners, and Reynolds makes one that is BPA-free, poly-resin blend. I have no clue what a "poly-resin" blend is. Is it safe?

  • Mom-to-be says she wants to breastfeed but...?

The baby won't be allowed to wake at night since she has to go to work. She expects a newborn to go 8+ hours at night without nursing and will just "let the baby cry". Thoughts?

I went to wash my hands at the grocery store and the soap pump was messed up and it sqirted like 3 tablespoons of antibcterial soap straight into my eye.

  • Baby boy's hair is long and in his eyes?

I'm not ready to get it cut and part with his sweet little curls. I want to let it grow out, but his hair is always in his eyes and I don't want it to bother him or limit his vision.

Is there anything I can put in his hair that would keep it out of his eyes, other than vaseline (b/c it is unsafe if it gets in the eyes)? It is still too hot for a beanie cap.

  • Does this sound like rosacea?

I have small bumps on my cheeks and chin and always have a flushed look. This is a constant and never varies. I don't notice flare ups because it always looks that way. It has been this way for about a decade.

I can't afford a doctor for this and looking for at-home, natural treatments.

It's difficult looking in the mirror and being disgusted by what I see :(
