Security Officer Question: How to ask for work as part-time?

Well, you see, this is my first time to this. I'm in college for night class and I just want to have a part -time job as a security, I still have to go for the 8 hour training and the OJT. However, today when I got to my application they said: "why do you want to work mon-friday and first shift only?" and I said " because my schedule preference needed that." and then he said "well, on this job we work 24/7, so if you are like that, then this is not a place for you" VERBATIM! he said that. I just stopped and thought about what to say there for a bit but I was kinda ticked off with his smart comment (I don't like smart sh*t like that, I got too much already when I was in the Army.) Don't know if he's just a d!ck or he's the actual shift supervisor. But I'm starting not to like him, he make it sound like he does a bad-as job of making the american people safe everyday. (c'mon now, we know security job is not a deterrence for crime mugs? heck, unless I got trained as crowd control then hell yeah.)

I did not tell him I go to school or something because they are kinda in a fast-paced-apply-for-now-and-verify-background-mode at that time. But I wanted to tell him I only wanted a part-time job not a full time.

Anyways, So, they said.. they'll call me back later after all the background check and formality and they did.

Told me to be on the guard office tomorrow afternoon to talk more about the job.

So is that gonna be my actual interview for tomorow? or I just had one today?

Coz I'm quite confused right now because the guy who supervises recruiting thinks I should work 7 days without off? or he's just a recruiting manager and there's an actual place where I could choose where to go as a guard, choose/change shift and decide whether to work part-time or full-time?

How do I ask then to have a part-time job schedule? like a way to say it right?

Also, Do I have any advancement chance to become like one of those bodyguards or anything a lot better than just a armed/unarmed guard without going to be a Police? Kinda still kick that movie called Body guard too. :)

Any help, suggestions, comments, negative reactions...etc is much appreciated. Thank you much.

Update:

Well, today, I signed some paperworks and I guess I'm waiting for the class to start. They haven't given me any schedule yet for work in either part or full time. So I still haven't told them I want to have a part-time. Anything i should look out into?

Update 2:

Oddly enough, they intentionally didn't tell me on the schedule for the last minute probably because they just want to fill positions. Actually, I never had any interview... I know an interview when I see one. And at that day, that wasn't. No negotiation about schedule, salary, benefits...nothing. They just told to guard a particular place for 12 Hours. I don't even know what the hell I'm doing. And that's just a day after I got to class. It was really not good of a job when I thought about it, so that's time they only told me that I'm actually just a floater. WTF? why do some agencies trick people like that? I mean guard is easy if you think about it but damn, these guys are making it difficult? Coz they have a chance to get rid of you as soon as they like it. And you can't say nothin because you didn't know your own schedule?! so yeah, well, apparently I quit without even getting hired long enough. Ugh.

They know that there are not enough jobs to go around and are simply taking advantage. Hold off until they hire you and when you get the schedule tell them that you already mentioned that you were looking for part time.

If you're going to get let go... then its going to happen regardless but make it harder for them to do so.

Sounds like your going into your intervie tommorow. When they ask you about availability then tell them your only interested in part time work and your hours. When they say 24/7 they mean that they want you to be available to work any shift at any time. So when you have specific hours you can work then it willdecrease your chances of getting hired. they want to move you to any shift.
