What Do You Have To Study In College To Be A Social Worker?

I am currently a junior in high school, and as everyone knows, now is the time for me to really get serious about i want to do in life. For as long as i can remember i've really been interested in helping people, which is why i'd love to be a social worker. Since i'll be going to college in a little less than two years, i was wondering if anyone knew what classes i should take/what i should major in, as well as what type of degree i would need in order to become a social worker.

Thanks in advance :)

The most obvious would be to major in Social Work, but a degree in Psychology or Sociology are other options. The best job candidates have a Master's degree in Social Work.

The department of your major outlines a course curriculum of the classes you need to take. That and you also have to take your general education electives.

    Sociology is the best one.

There might even be customized degrees in Social Work.

For most jobs a Bachelor is enough, for some you need a Masters (mainly for administration jobs).

Appropriate core classes: Sociology and Psychology.

If you want to focus on something specific, for example students and school kids, then you can add classes from Education.
