Do universities favour A levels over btec courses ?

I'm doing a btec business diploma and want to go to university to do law but I've been told I'm better off doing A levels because universities prefer them. Is this true ?

Doing A levels isn't really an option for me right now so that's why i settled for the btec business diploma.

Thanks.

You can get onto our business courses and study a variety of degrees with a BTEC, as long as you have 80 UCAS points we can guarantee you entry to DMU leicester,

For most universities it is too late now to apply for this years entry as most places have been taken. Even clearing had 5 people applying for each space.

However you can still get into university in 2011 through our new course that started this year. Also we only require 80 UCAS points. We offer low entry as our course is designed for those who missed out on a university place but still wish to attend a top university. Due to our late marketing this year we still have a few spaces left so please get in contact.

Complete a single year diploma with us in business or computing and we guarantee you entry into Demontford University second year for years 2 and 3. We still have spaces meaning you wont have to take a year out, but there aren't many left at all. When you get into Demontford university there are a variety of courses available, details of which are below. To do midwifery, a BTEC in Forensic Science will not be acceptable. Some universities don't even accept BTECs for midwifery, and the ones that do generally want one in health and social care. I suggest doing an Access to Midwifery course at a local college, A Levels or a BTEC in Health and Social Care. An Access to Midwifery course will be the quickest route.

I think they do favour A levels rather than BTEC qualifications that are Equiviant to A levels. If you do A levels you'll do better at exams and a better chance of passing University exams too. With BTEC its only Coursework, so even if you do get on to a university course, you'll struggle with exams

depends entirely on the university and the course, obviously places like oxford, cambridge, manchester, ect prefer A-Levels, but i think the best thing to do is look at courses you want to do and ring the universities and ask if they would accept your B-Tec , but think about it, b-tecs can be taken at Sixforth colleges where a-levels are, so if they werent worth the same or considered the same, then surely they wouldnt be done along side A-Levels, they would be done in a vocational college,

but you have to consider that btecs are mostly coursework so you may strugglewith the exam side of a university course
