How much water would be used in an 8 hour period?

At normal city water pressure ,how much water would be used in an 8 hour period if a 5/8" garden hose were left running. I ask this because a hose connection broke and the water ran for approx 8 hours. How many gallons were sent down the alley and into the street?

You can measure it easily by aiming the hose into a bucket whose size is known and timing it with a stopwatch.

Run the hose in a gal bucket for one min. see how many gals in one min.

    8 hours = 480 min.

multiply 480 X number of gals per min. = total amount of water
