if I quit when pregnant can I get unempolyment?

If I quit the job I have been in for about 4 years, due to pregnancy/medical complications can I get unempolyment? I am a high risk pregnancy and my boss is hard on 40 hours a week. This being my second I don't need the stress plus I have 2 doctors to see. Can I quit adn get benifits? In MD by the way.

Thanks

Update:

I did read (on the MD unempolyment website) that if you quit for medical reasons you may be entitled to unempolyment. I am wondering if that worked for anyone... I already know I would not be coming back after leave anyway...

Update 2:

FMLA does not pay you, it protects your job while you are out. Why would I want to protect a job that I no longer want?

I'm on maternity leave at my work, all I had to do was sign all the papers and get my doctor to sign them too. I don't have to go back afterwards, I just have to give them a call in june saying whether or not I need more time or whether or not I'm quitting. That way you for sure get unemployment :). As with the unemployment, I live in canada, and if your pregnant and you've worked 600 insured hours, you bring in your Record of employment into Service canada, and apply for benefits, you will start getting your money about a month later. I don't think it matters whether or not you've quit, but its good to ask.

You should apply for FMLA first and see if you get that, it will give you time off and if it isnt enough you can quit afterwards and try for unemployment although it will be really hard to win.

You can't get unemployment if you QUIT your job. It doesn't matter if you are pregnant or not.
