Are these real contractions or still just cramps?
My water broke about 3-4 hours ago. Really bad cramps are coming every 6-7 minutes. They are painful, pretty painful. But they don't feel like tightening like every one says. Just feels like really bad period cramps. I kinda have to stop what I am doing to find some thing else to do to get thru them... Like stand up or something..
OMG u guys! u can labor at home for a while after ur water breaks. Midwife said wait it out til morning!

Yes you are having contractions if they are making you stop what you are doing. I would labor at home for as long as possible. Wait until they are a little closer together if you can wait it out that long. Laboring at home will be easier so that the hospital doesn't have you on the monitors and such for so long. As long as you keep your midwife up to date and follow her advice and listen to your body you should have a smooth delivery. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS

yes you are right women labor at home as long as they feel comfortable doing so, infection is more likely at the hospital then at home. The risk rate really increases 48-72 hours depending on how many vaginal exams you have had (they are not sterile).
Working with your body and trusting your instincts are the best thing to do, some women find a nice warm bath helpful (just don't put anything in the water) helps. While I was in labor the last thing I wanted to do was lay down.
However when your contractions are coming every 3 to 5 mins apart for an hour you should call Your midwife or go to the hospital.
