What are some good exotic plants to grow outdoors in Colorado?

Just want to get a nice little backyard garden going with good-looking non-native plants. Any ideas that aren't to expensive?

Castor Bean plants are beautiful and will grow pretty tall.

I grow rhubarb because the huge leathery leaves look tropical and it will come back bigger and bigger every year. Plus you can eat the stalks.

We have a banana plant that comes back every year (with a lot of protection in winter) and we live in zone 6a/5b, pretty cold.

If you want a climbing plant try hardy Kiwi, which is hardy to -40'.

    Good luck.
