I have a removeable hard drive that doesn't come up on the device list. How can I access its files?

I have a removeable hard drive and hooked it up to my laptop. After a few messages it said your device is now ready for use. However, under the My Computer icon, under the section for removeable devices, it does not show up. If I go to device manager, I do see it listed and it shows to be working normally.

Is there a way I can access the files on there?

This is PC.

Thanks

Update:

to answer your questions, it is one that used to work that I hadn't used in a year.

Under "manage" I don't see it listed, but it is listed under "Device Manager"?

Thanks

try checking the removable device disk management and see if it shows up...

right click my computer and manage....

it could be that it may be corrupted...but that's the place to check first
