Does an excerpt of a book get underlined or put in quotation marks when cited in text?

I'm writing a rhetorical precis and an trying to cite the excerpt called A Writing Lesson from Claude Levi-Strauss's book Tristes Tropiques. Do i underline, italicize, or quote A Writing Lesson?

If you are directly quoting, you have to use quotation marks and at the end in brackets place (authors surname, date of publication) refering to a reference list at the end of your writing. It may also be an idea to underline the title of the text if mentioned in the body.

Underline the title of books, quotations around titles of plays, poems, songs, essays, etc.
