Release death photos of Osama Bin Laden?

CIA says they probably will release photos of OBL pending White House okay. I think it would be a huge mistake. How do you feel about this?

Update:

IMHO the only thing that will be accomplished by doing this is to further enrage terrorists and also the entire Islamic population. It's just not necessary. And Spike, I agree with you - it's gruesome.

Update 2:

The TDs are not from me. I appreciate all answers, even ones that conflict with my beliefs.

No. It will only bring on more killing of our troops who are overseas as well as terrorist attacks against all Americans wherever they are.

This is the same kinda thing as the ridiculous fervor over Obama's birth certificate and his citizenship. Some tea party mental midgets just cant get it through their thick skull that America's president is of mixed race and basically a good man. Just like the release of the birth certificate, releasing the photos of a bullet ridden corpse will prove nothing. Bin Laden is dead, and thankfully so are a couple of his junior officers.

Why aren't these folks demanding to see video and pictures of the dead spread out across a street after a car bomb goes off in Afghanistan? You can find it easy enough on the Internet.

It's another bogus rumor and the truth is that the White House, the CIA, and the Pentagon are fighting to keep Osama bin Laden death photos secret. The Obama administration argued in papers filed in federal court in Washington Monday that the photos would reveal military and intelligence secrets and could lead to violence against U.S. personnel.

Did you ever see the Paul Newman movie "Absence of Malice?" It's about spreading lies & giving them big play, but when the truth comes out no one reads it. I dare you to tell the truth and retract your statement.

BTW, the TDs are not from me either.

What's the point? Having lost a family member on 9-11,I was somehow relieved that Osama Bin Laden was dead. It didn't bring my nephew or anyone else that died because of that terrorist act. If it would do any good-fine,but I cant think what it would be.

I agree that the photos could be inflammatory, and they wouldn't prove anything. People who don't believe Bin Laden is dead won't be convinced by pictures, Photos can easily be faked.

I have to congratulate myself here for correctly predicting that Team Obama would reverse itself on releasing the photos. These guys are just like the characters in Orwell's' "Animal Farm." They have no problem saying one thing one day and the opposite thing the next day. They think that's good government.

Even so, I'm all in favor of releasing the pictures. Especially if Joe Lieberman is correctly when he reports that Al Quaeda still denies that bin Laden is dead. I can't stand Lieberman and generally would not believe anything he said, but in this case I guess it's credible. Because Al Quaeda and their sympathizers are crazy people, with no grasp of reality whatsoever. They would claim that the United States of America does not exist, if they thought they could get a few people to believe it.

I myself am not a conspiracy loon, so I do not need the photos to prove to me that bin Laden is dead.

I'm glad he's dead too. Hoo-RAY for the SEALs! Hoo-RAY for the U.S. Navy! Franky, my only complaint is that his death was too easy. Being shot in the head with no warning in your own bedroom in the middle of the night is not a bad way to go. And he was truly one of the most evil villains the world has seen in a long, long time.

But what I deplore is the popular notion that we should all do whatever we can to appease these radical murderers. So that maybe they will take pity on us and not murder us so much.

First of all, that approach simply doesn't work. When these monsters see that people are afraid of them, it makes them even more murderous, not less.

And secondly, it's a terrible mistake to allow any group of people in this world to believe that they have special rights not to be insulted. (Especially when the insults are perfectly justified.) Everybody else on this planet understands that their favorite god or holy man or prophet or leader is going to be insulted once in a while. And sooner or later the Muslims are going to have to get used to that fact of life too and join the human race.

I think the release of any death photo is macabre. But I guess they need to prove that he is dead to some.

Some people need to see the pics before they can believe he's dead I think It will help Obama's approval rating

EDIT: Look the whole opporation was sudden and a lot of people weren't sure whether to believe it or not because the CIA refused to release the pics, this way everyone will know for sure.

we need proof that he really dead. if your family member died you would ask for proof so the 9/11 victims families deserve to see the proof
