I'm looking for a french word?

It is spelled something like, "derrigure," and what it means is, the normal course, what's usually done, the habit, the custom, the expected course of action.

It is a single word.

Maybe in an English sentence, it might be used like, "Seeing the village elder before exploring the area is 'd....'"

or, "Wearing perfume 'd...' when going out to the opera."

Any ideas?

Update:

Yes to the people who have answered. I was wrong. It is two words, not one. Thank you all so much. I very much appreciate it.

    One word are you sure?

De rigueur seems to be what you are looking for.

I think you're looking for 'de rigeur' (not sure about the spelling - I did German at school) it's a phrase rather than a single word...
