Sorry but your going to miss all the christmas celebrations. The Christmas Decorations start going up November 1st.
Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party runs on select nights Nov 8 - Dec 18.
The Candlelight procession runs Nov 25 - Dec 30th
The Osbourne Festival of Dancing lights is Nov 10 - Jan 3
You will see some of the decorations still up when you arrive but it wont be anything like you can see in December. They start taking down the decorations each night starting from New Years Day. It all comes down very quickly. The Osbourne lights are the only think that last a day or two and that is because it takes weeks to take them down.

We have been to Disney twice after 1/1. The first time was quite some time ago and we were there 1/2 onward. The decorations were up the whole stay. We were just there the second week into the third week of 1/11 and the decorations in the parks were up most of that time. Only the last day or so were they taking down the Magic Kingdom stuff. The holiday music (instead of the usual Disney background music) was playing our entire stay. Also, our resort was decorated for more than half of our stay. Although the Osborne lights will be over, you will most probably see all the parks decorated for much if not all of your stay. In fact, two years ago due to an unseasonably cold January, the decorations stayed up longer than the middle of January.

the disney world website does to say when it starts.
it starts on november 8th 2011.
and it typically ends the first sunday in january and the parks are back to normal the first monday of january.
in 2012 the first sunday is jan 1st so that will most likely be the last day of the xmas season and monday jan 2nd things will most likely be back to normal.
