Suggest a pellet pistol?
I am looking to get a pellet pistol, and wanted to get some advice. The first (and non-negotiable) criteria is that it can’t require any external inputs other than pellets. That means no PCP guns and no CO2 cartridges, regardless of how well they might meet the other needs identified below. It can be a multi-pump or break barrel, or any other design that lets you shoot pellets without needing anything other than pellets and muscle.
There are a few other considerations that will influence the gun I will eventually get. In order of importance would be the following factors:
- Durability
- Power/velocity
- Size/weight (smaller/lighter is better, but this is a less important consideration)
- cost
It could be .177 or .22 caliber. That doesn’t really matter in comparison to all of the above factors.
Any advice/suggestions you can provide would be appreciated.

I would agree with "Victor"
For the money you can't beat the Crosman 1377
chronograph = around 540fps to 560fps with 7.9gr pellets
For greater control and accuracy it's very easy to add both a steel breech kit and or the Crosman 1399 shoulder stock.
If you want more power, the Diana(RWS) 5G Magnum
I can't find my notes on this one, but it is more powerful than the 1377. I recall it being harder to c0ck than I expected and not as accurate.
A very versatile and accurate pistol would be the Webley Alecto**
I have not had the chance to shoot one, but if it's better than their Hurricane or Tempest, and it appears to be. The Alecto should be one very nice pistol
**chronograph = 660fps on 3 pumps with the 7.0gr RWS Hobby(1 pump = 440fps / 2 pumps = 575fps) & 495fps with 13.73gr pellets in the .22 caliber version(1 pump = 320fps / 2 pumps = 435fps)
Many years ago I had a Hurricane, they're a very nice pistol, just not all that powerful. If I recall correctly I was getting somewhere in the 450fps to 500fps range with 7gr pellets. You can find both the Tempest and Hurricane on the secondary market(Gunbroker.com / etc) but due to collectors, they're generally overpriced.
Browning 800 Magnum -
.22 = 500fps with the 14.5gr RWS Superdome for 8.1ft-lbs
This one is like an RWS 5G Mag on steroids, very similar but heavier and more powerful.
A top of the line sporter(and my favorite) is the Beeman/Weihrauch P1
Mine gets right around 550fps with 8.4gr pellets

same here, 1377 all the way. not only is it powerful in stock form, but with a "24 barrel, that's a hundred fps added, which in turn, means more fpe (foot pounds of energy) i would add a "24 barrel, and a new shoulder stock.

Crosman American Classic 1377c Pump-pistol. It is great for squirrel hunting, and target shooting. It's a .177 cal, rifled steel barrel, multi-pump pneumatic, and is very customizable.
