when going to an evening do of a wedding?

how much money are you expected to give as a wedding present? this couple have no wedding list, arent even good friends, i only know them through work an havent been invited all day just to the evening, what do you think is the best amount?

    enough to cover your meal and or drinks if its an open bar

    There isn't an amount that you are expected to give. The amount you give should be based on the relationship and your budget. No guest is required to give an amount equal to their plate. What the couple spends on their reception is their choice and is their "thank you" to their guests for attending the wedding.

    25-50 seems more than fair.you don't cover the cost of your plate or drinks either - what the couple chose to spend is their choice,not yours.a reception isn't to be broken even on
