What is the point of existence?

Live to learn, learn to live, then we die.

The point of existence is to find the Point of existence, in other words that independent point that can observe reality from "one end to the other".

At the moment this observing point is buried under our Ego which we think is our 'self", thus the purpose of our life is to free our true "self", the independent observing point from underneath the Ego and start our free, independent journey.

And actually this is not philosophical, but we can it in practice here and now.

fundamentally to pursue pleasure. all life forms, except human, do just that.

human is exceptional as we have the idea about many things including 'moderation'. we can know the consequences in the pursuit of pleasure so we use self restriction such as morality, loyalty, honesty, fidelity etc and deny yourself from madness and stupidity.

upon that, we may pursue to climb higher intellectually in different fields of study - e.g. philosophy. by trying to achieve higher, we can unlock the secret of the nature, can become wiser, and set out future goal individually and socially.

only humans have the knowledge of eventual moment i.e. death through gradual declining (aging). and only humans have the knowledge of afterlife and before-life.

We live, because we are afraid of death. it's as simple as that.

why did the dino's live ? why did the egyptians live? why did elvis live? there are no rhyme or reasons why things exist, they just do. if your asking how humanity has made it this far. we evolved of the hominid branches through out milions of years and for a more detailed answer google evolution, or abiogenesis, or for the universe Big-bang.

At the most basic of levels, the only point of all species' existence is to survive long enough to pass on their genes to the next generation.

However, since humans possess sentience and consciousness, we make our own purposes.
