the original out of date fashion rule pertained only to shoes and purses -and these days no one under the age of 80 follows it anymore. It was never a blanket prohibition against all while clothes. After all, a white shirt is a fashion classic no matter what the time of year and a white wool coat is chic and sophisticated in the coldest part of winter. Nowadays fashions are set in warm places such as Miami, Los Angeles and other tropical places where it's summer all year long so no one pays any attention to that old out of fashion rule anymore. Dress for the weather, dress for the occasion and don't worry about silly little old lady fashion rules.
