How much is the NY Rangers AHL payroll?

Hi

Will the issue of salary dumping to the AHL become a CBA issue next year with teams like NY Rangers burying players in the AHL? I can see the NHLPA wanting to make this an issue due to players careers basically being ended because a club overpaid. As long as the player is in the AHL it is off the Cap, if they put the player on re-entry waivers and the player is picked up they now have half the over priced salary on the book, with no player to show for it, hence why players will never be given a chance in the NHL while under contract.

Thank You

Update:

ps My suspected issue is that some of these players want to do more than collect a pay check. I would like to hope at heart they are competitors first and foremost. Being in the AHL and over in Europe robs them of a chance to play against the best in the world night in and night out. The NHLPA's other issue is with someone like Commodore, if he comes out and plays at top 4 or above level they (the NHLPA) will claim buy Columbus sending him to the AHL they hurt his earning potential unfairly. Mix that with the Redden's and Huet's of the hockey world who are not worth the contracts and are also not AHLer's.

CME nice to see you found your way back. Hope your journey was an enlightening one.

To answer the question about who pays Avery what, Dallas is still on the hook for 2 million. If someone had claimed Avery, the Rags would owe 1 million and whatever team claimed him would be responsible for the other million.

As far as Europe, the flip side is they chase the money. Nabokov is the perfect example. Maybe there should be a clause that if a player does get sent down under these situations, he can give back "X" % of the salary to gain free agency......like a buy-out clause for players. Just guessing at this point

You want to talk about a predicament?

The Rangers claimed Avery off re-entry waivers from Dallas, which means the two teams split the salary and cap hit. What would happen if Avery was claimed off re-entry waivers by a third team? Would his salary and cap hit be split three ways? Or would Dallas or New York be off the hook? My brain hurts just thinking about it.

I can't see the NHLPA making a big deal over it because at the end of the day, the players are still getting paid. Huet is over in Europe collecting a NHL paycheck from the Hawks, as well as from his team in Europe, all while playing probably 40 games a year. Compare that to him making half as much and playing as a backup in the NHL, I think Huet would gladly stay in Europe as a starter getting paid more. Just my opinion.

If a player is sent to the AHL with a 1 way contract, he isn't coming back. That has little to do with the money aspect, if you're an NHL vet with a 1 way contract who clears waivers and goes to the AHL.... you're done in the NHL

$62,122,834. Leaving $2,177,166 cap space after bonuses and buyouts.

Oops, you asked about the AHL team. Don't know.

I doubt the PA will make much more than token complaint. Players who can't stick with the NHL club are still getting a big league salary. Why would they risk that?
