Hey, M.G.F556, limitation of Kindle Fire are so numerous that it might take a couple of pages to list, I'll try a few:
1. Kindle Fire doesn't have microSD slot that, for example, Nook Color has thus it is stuck with 6 GB usable internal storage unlike Nook Color that can get up to 32 GB card in. Kindles are made to be almost like a "dumb terminal" of the past to make sure you're tied up to Amazon's storage on the web (for which you need Wi-Fi connection to get to) and you can only store content you get from Amazon there, not other files. Quoting Amazon on Kindle Fire: "Free cloud storage for all Amazon content". Get it, Amazon content?
2. The stats of how long the battery can last (Kindle Fire theory is 8 hours) are taken with Wi-Fi off. You can only imaging how much less Kindle Fire battery will last if you use it to access content from their Cloud storage over Wi-Fi.
3. Amazon can spy on your web activity through their new cloud-integrated web browser of Kindle Fire.
4. VERY IMPORTANT – lack of microSD slot means that if you decide to root your Kindle Fire, you’ll have to root the actual device thus there will be no coming back. On Nook Color, you can make it boot from a “rooted” microSD card and if you want to get back to the original Nook you can just take out the card and reboot.
5. Kindle Fire doesn't have a camera.
6. Kindle Fire has about 70% less usable screen area than iPad 2.
7. Kindle doesn't support eBooks in ePub format that is the most used format in the world.
8. Kindle app store contains only Amazon approved apps and it does not include (and will not include) Netflix app that iPad has and Nook Color is getting thus again you're stuck with Amazon content only.
Overall, I'd recommend waiting for a couple of weeks as Nook Color 2 is rumored to be released by Barnes & Noble.

It's the first tablet under $249 worth buying. It's a better tablet than the Nook Color, and it's 25% less expensive.
Advantages of Kindle Fire:
1. Its unique cloud-accelerated "split browser" is optimized for web browsing and multi-media, which are the best functions of tablets.
2. 7-inch display is very easy to handle and is highly portable.
3. Its $199 price is very low relative to other tablets.
Disadvantages of Kindle Fire:
1. No cameras; no SD slot.
2. 7-inch display shows smaller views of documents and movies than 10-inch displays do.
3. It's not running the latest version of Android.
It looks good overall, but it's up to you to weigh the relative importance of those factors.
Reasons to order it now:
1. You'll be in line ahead of others should supply not meet demand.
2. You know you want it for sure and don't want to think about the decision any more.
Reasons to order it after release:
1. Problems could manifest in the Kindle Fire once it starts shipping.
2. Another product might be released which you'd like more.
All things considered, given Amazon's excellent track record with Kindles, I don't think there's much risk in going ahead and pre-ordering one of the new Kindle Fires now. At the very least, however, make sure you compare the new models thoroughly and choose wisely between them.

Designed from the ground up, Kindle Fire's simple, intuitive interface puts the content you love at your fingertips - spin effortlessly through your recent titles and websites straight from the home screen. Whether you are in the mood to watch, read, listen, play or browse, you can get to all your favorite content with a single touch. It's that simple.

If you're going to spend the money on a Fire, you may as well go whole hog and get HD. You think it's not noticeable but when you're flicking through the tv channels, you really can see what you're missing when you watch an older film or show.

It's specs sound impressive, though no one tried out the device yet. If it lives up to the promise it should be good. You can read some of what it has to offer here:

Well no one has actually touched one yet except the amazon employees and the tech reviewers. I found this review here http://www.squidoo.com/ipad-vs-kindle-fire-compari... and it sounds like it's better or as good as an ipad to me, but much cheaper.
It seems to do everything the ipad does, but it doesn't have a camera. It is flash compatible though, which is great for web surfing.
