Are the Colts Tanking their season to get Andrew Luck?
What other possible explanation is there.? I would really hate this to happen. No one team deserves to keep getting the best players.
I do get everyone's eloquent argument. However, have you considered the fact that He might actually be well now or in a couple of weeks and the colts decide not to play him to get Luck. It is true that teams rarely tank in the NFL to get talent. but Luck is rare, so the question still lingers

I think Dwight Freeny might not agree with your assessment, the players are not tanking. The lack of coaching is being exposed due to Peyton's absence.

This is starting to get old, no team will lose on purpose to grab a 22-year old kid that has never played a down as a Pro.
First, the Super Bowl is in Indianapolis and the Colts are the most interested team in making the playoffs.
If they were tanking their season they would not have lost the previous two games in the last minutes. Instead they would have been blowouts since the beginning.

The explaination has to do with their current situation at QB. Curtis Painter and Kerry Collins are two players that are indeed sub-average players. Neither of them are capable of leading the Colts to the playoffs. Collins is over the hill in terms of the age for a QB to play effectively. Curtis Painter doesn't have enough experience or maturity to even be a great QB, and as a result you have a mess of a team offensively. Defensively the team is struggling because they don't know how to stop the pass or the run. The Colts have pieces to work with, but when you have an offensive system that is totally dependent on Peyton Manning, and you have a defensive scheme that isn't working well then you have an 0-4 team.
As far as Andrew Luck goes, I think it is ridiculous for fans or even the media to insinuate that a team would throw games just to get the #1 pick in the draft. For one, teams want to win and they play hard every Sunday to avoid losses. Losses equal embarrassment and it doesn't look good for the organization and its PR. Secondly, it is unethical and foolish. What if the Colts get Luck in the draft and Luck doesn't pan out in his career? Then you as the orgainzation essentially wasted a year trying to get a player that wasn't worth it. It is unethical because you are hinging your success on one player at the expense of the team. I disagree respectfully because teams don't throw games just to get high picks in the draft.

I think it's too little, too late for the Colts. They should have grabbed a franchise QB years ago when Peyton was at least still a little mobile, so he could learn from him much as Rodgers learned from Favre. With Peyton's health and future in jeopardy, if the Colts draft Luck now it will take considerably longer for him to progress, and if the Colts don't have a dynamic rushing attack then chances are, they will ask Luck to do too much and ultimately hurt him.
I say grab a talented running back in the 1st round and wait until next year for a QB.

No they are not ranking the season, they are just this bad without Peyton. Their defense is too small and built to stop the pass not the run because they normally have the lead with manning in there. They just resigned manning and it would not be ideal to pay two qbs big money. Their running game is weak as well and they are just a bad team with aging stars. As much as I dislike the colts they will be fine with manning back next year all you need is an elite qb and you will make the playoffs.

No. Peyton Manning is still the QB for the colts. The Colts bank on him being back next year.

thats the dumbest thing they could possibly do. not that andrew luck will be a bust, but there are multiple times where analysts thought players would be good, but have flopped. just for reference, heres what they said about jamarcus russell:

and the colts have a couple more years with manning. not to mention how much more they need in other positions like the secondary and o line.

Let me ask you a question fool. If you were an NFL player making a million dollars or more per year, would you purposely tank a game at the risk of losing your job ? Think about it.

No, the problem with the colts is their offense. They honostly had NO offensive coordinater, it was always Peyton, without him, the offense seems lost and I believe they will not have a winning season, not even close.

Then Miami and KC are tanking too.
No, Indianapolis just need Peyton´s comeback to be a contender team again.
