What does this teach re: a trinity? Rev. 14:1?
In many translations both 'his name' (the lamb Jesus) and 'his Father's name' (Jehovah) are mentinoned. Where is the holy spirit here?
Hello folks, especially 'lilleangel': Perhaps rephrasing the question is better:
If the trinity teaching includes God's holy spirit as a person, then why are the 144,000 not bearing it's name on their foreheads? They are obviously dedicated to Jehovah, as followers, or dicsciples, of Christ Jesus, would you say?
There is never any doubt about the holy spirit, or 'active force' of Almighty God, being operative right from the beginning of God's activities.
Greetings Gü

Hello Gunter. Good question. This does not support a trinity at all! The lamb Jesus is God's or Jehovah's only begotton son. Genesis 1:2 describes God's holy spirit as his "active force," that he uses to accomplish his will-like creation for an example. That is why it is not mentioned at all as a person in Rev. 14:1.

God the Father is Holy. God the Father is a Spirit (John 4:24). So you see God the Father is ALSO HOLY SPIRIT, just as He is ALSO GOD THE SON.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit are altogether in many New Testament Scriptures including Matt 28:19, Matthew 3: 16 & 17, Mark 1: 9-11, Luke 3: 21, & 22, 1 Cor 12: 4-6, Eph 2:18, 2 Corinthians 13:14, Ephesians 4: 4-7, 1 Peter 1:2, Jude 20:2, John 1: 33 & 34. There are 11 for starters and there are many more besides.
Remember this: If the Father, Son and Holy Spirit together are mentioned in only one scripture, then the Trinity exists. I have given you 11 places they are mentioned and as I said, there are many more. We are 3 part beings. We ARE a spirit, we HAVE a soul and we LIVE in a body. God is the Same as we are created in His image. God is Spirit, soul and body. Father is Spirit, Holy Spirit is God the Father's Soul and he/they live in a body which is Jesus Christ.
There are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit and these THREE ARE ONE - that's a Trinity in anyone's book. (1 John 5:7)
God has made YOU IN HIS IMAGE. God is a 3 part being, Spirit, Soul and Body and so are you in 3 parts - You are a spirit, you have a soul and you live in a body. Paul said, "I pray your WHOLE SPIRIT SOUL AND BODY be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thess 5:23). You can't have a blameless body and spirit and leave out your soul, mind, will and emotions. You are one and cannot be separated. God is one and cannot be separated.
God also is a Spirit (John 4:24), He has a soul (Holy Spirit) and He lives in a body (the body of Jesus Christ who is God in flesh form.
However, you do not have to believe that God is a Trinity. He won't force you to do so.
You will find out one day that the Bible is true and God is a Trinity of three persons in one. Jesus Christ said, I and My Father are ONE (John 10:30) Jesus in the Father and the Father IN Jesus Christ (John 17: 11, 21, 23)
When Jesus says He and His Father are one, that includes the Holy Spirit who is already IN the Father and Son. Father is Spirit (John 4:24), Holy Spirit is Father's Soul. Jesus is Spirit, H.S. is in Jesus Christ.
You are a Spirit Gunter and your name is Gunter, you have a soul and I don't say what is the name of your soul? Your soul is your mind will and emotions, part of Gunter. Your body is also part of Gunter. Your soul (mind, will and emotions) doesn't have a name different from your spirit and body. You are Gunter; your spirit leaves your body upon death and returns to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7). We are commanded to be baptised in the one Name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matt 28:19) - ONE NAME because God is ONE. We are baptised into all of God. You cannot separate God's Spirit from His Soul or his body. We must be baptised into Him, the Son AND THE HOLY SPIRIT
What would be the point of that, if there were no such thing as a Holy Spirit as the 3rd person of the Trinity? He is God the Father's soul, His mind, will and emotions. He hasn't got a different Name

Who told you that we use Rev. 14:1 to teach the Trinity? Scripture often uses language that refers to only one or two Persons of the Trinity. After all they are distinct and different Persons with different functions. Try using Matthew 28:19, 2 Cor. 13:14 and 1 Peter 1:2 for interpretations of the Trinity.

The Holy Spirit is throughout the entire Book of Revelation! Re-read Rev. 1:10 -- "On the Lord’s Day I was IN the Spirit (emphasis mine)..." Not praying TO the Spirit -- but IN the Spirit...On Sunday, the Lord's Day...not on Saturday or Friday or...

not every scripture which mentions God the Father also mentions God the Son or God the Holy Ghost, and visa versa. that does not mean they do not exist.
God refered to himself as a plural being in genesis 1:26 and Jesus identified the three part being of God in matthew 28:19.
there are many many scriptures in the bible which depict the three part being of God in various ways and many which speak of each part of the Godhead seperately, so to take one scirpture which only mentions God the Father and God the Son is not a well rounded approach to studying and knowing the truth.

It's a trinity if you want it to be. You see, I think it's not worth arguing about. God didn't say "I am a Holy Trinity", yet he reveals himself in such a way that someone thought it might apply. So if people would stop arguing about it to the point of breaking up Christ's church over it, I think things will be better for us.

where is the holy spirit? about 3 paragraphs later. ever read that far?
13 Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.”
“Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
it does not mention that the father's name is jehovah. you added that in brackets. you have to do that to make your theology work. i do not.
1 Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.
what does this teach re a "trinity"
hey i don't do doctrines or creeds. those are your words. so don't misconstrue what i say.
this teaches that the name "jehovah (if you insist on the catholic mispronunciation)" applies to the son as well as the father.
there is only one name on their heads.
Rev 22:3-4-The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
John 17:11-12-"Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name-the name you gave me..."
"While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me."
Phil 2:9-Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name...
Heb 1:4-So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
Matt 21:15-16-But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were crying out in the temple and saying, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant, and said to Him, "Do You hear what these are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babes Thou hast prepared praise for Thyself?" [Quote from Ps. 8:2, Jehovah]
Matt 28:19-Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Luke 1:76-And you, my child [John the Baptist], will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord [NWT-Jehovah] to prepare the way for him.
Is 40:3-A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the Lord [Jehovah]; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. [Heb. & LXX-make straight the paths of our God]

Revelation 14
1And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.
The Holy Spirit is invisible and is always there whether he is mentioned or not. He's in our hearts so we know he's alive. He is God in action.

there are two thrones in Heaven. YHVH the heavenly Father, and YAHUSHUA the Savior are Almighty. THEIR spirit strives with man,,,,, but is not a 'third being'. Otherwise, the spirit would be the father............ and think what a dysfunctional family that would be.
