Is it rude to reply on an Evite?

Is it rude to reply on an Evite that you are coming to the party and "Hope you don't mind I'm bringing a friend" in the comments section?

Is this rude because I didn't personally call or contact the host first? Or is it normal practice to ask to bring a friend in the evite comments section?

Am I wrong to think that's what the comments section of an evite is for?

Update:

So what is the evite for? Is that not to ask if it's okay? The host could still respond personally if they needed too.

Yeah... I would think it would be a little rude, you don't know what they have planned to do.

Send a private message and ask if it's ok to bring a friend with you to this party before you answer the evite. That way things won't be awkward when you get there and you can decide whether or not you want to go without your friend.

    Have fun... :)

Source(s): Uhmmm.... that would be like getting a wedding invite with a RSVP.... If your invite didn't indicate that you could bring a guest, you wouldn't ask on your RSVP if you could bring one with you would you? The evite is to let you know about the event and for you to let the host know if you are going or not... I still think it would be best to email, or call, the host before answering.... they may not even realize they didn't give people the option of bringing someone with them.....
