Do I still have head lice?
I had head lice about a month ago. I treated it with NIX twice, and for a while the lice seemed to have went away. But now, my head is really itchy again. Really REALLY itchy! I don't have anyone to go through my hair and check, as my parents don't live in the same city as me and none of my friends have any idea of what to look for. I do, however, comb my hair with a nit comb every day. I was under the impression that if you do have lice, the nit comb would take the nits and lice out of your hair, but when I comb there is never anything on the comb. Why? It makes me think I don't actually have lice again (or still), but my head is so itchy all the time and I don't know why else that would be.
Is it possible to have lice even when there is absolutely no sign of them when using a nit comb?

There's a possibility that it's psychological. After having an outbreak of head lice, it's common for people to continue having that itchy feeling, even after the lice are gone. Some people start to feel itchy just from talking about head lice.
Itching may continue for a while even after all lice are destroyed. This can happen because of a lingering allergic reaction to their bites. Try taking an antihistamine for the itching to see if that helps.
You might also have dried your scalp from the double dose of NIX. The chemicals can be harsh on a person's scalp, including drying out the skin.
If you are still using the nit comb a month after your infestation, you may be irritating your scalp which would easily cause the itchy feeling.
Lastly, you may want to find someone that can check your head for you; a neighbour, co-worker, public health nurse, walk-in clinic, free-clinic, etc...
Because you had an infestation a month ago, you want to make certain you don't have them again.
It's a lot of work to clean up all personal items, clothing, bedding, your living area, etc... If any eggs were missed during your original clean-up, it is possible you have been re-infested.
Before you consider re-treating yourself for head lice, be sure if you have it! Many people misdiagnose head lice and treat themselves or their children with chemicals unnecessarily.
