Why are so many Christians tied up on sin?

Jesus Himself said He takes away the sin of the world. God is not a big ogre with a baseball bat looking to beat you everytime you mess up. Jesus came to save the world-not condemn it.

Christians are free from the bondage of sin because of Jesus Christ, yet that does not give license to sin.

It is because their Pastors have been indoctrinating them for so long now , that they really believe that they are guaranteed Salvation . And so , They think that they can get away with no longer striving for achieving the Perfection of God ( Mat. 5:48 ) . But , at least , the Atheists are trying to do unto others as they would want others to do unto them when they are faced with nuclear annihilation .

Because we do not want to go to hell so we need Jesus Christ to save us from our sins. It doesn't mean we can just take advantage of His Crucifixion though, that would be just wrong and bound to hurt us even worse. Think about this: If Jesus died for you would you then do whatever you wanted because you never really liked the guy. That is the most SELFISH thing I can possibly think of! He died for you!!!!!!!!

Those that follow Paul and ignore the Beatitudes of Jesus need something in common as they nod and grin in church.

Common enemies bring people together. Ergo: While sitting in church they can all agree that "sin" is their common enemy.

Edit: In the old days they sat in church and declared "Satan" as their common enemy. But they looked for Satan, and couldn't seem to find him. However, they looked for "sin" and found it pretty regularly - so that is why they are hung-up on "sin".

  • "Justification by faith" is well taught, especially in the churches that got free of papalism, but not transformation of the soul through what has been done for us by Christ. Our spirits are born again, but our souls need renewing; this isn't automatic.

The transformational teaching is not easy to our natural thinking as it depends on spiritual ways of thinking, our union with Christ, faith and the power of the Holy Spirit.

We are actually united with Christ in his death and resurrection, so can mortify our bad attributes by faith. So we can confess our sins, then through faith put the sinful deeds to death (1 John;Romans). Then we can "put on" the characteristics of the Christ life by faith (Colossians). There is still the flesh as christians, but as it says in Romans 8 we have the victory over the natural human tendency through the "flesh" as the law of the spirit of life comes into effect for us. The Holy Spirit can lift us up in effect so that our new nature is enforced, and the "flesh" does not pull us down. But we have to set our minds on the things of God for this(Romans) or to put it in another way Abide in Jesus words and abide in Him (John's gospel). Also as it confirms in Philippians 2 God can create the right desires, and strength to carry out those desires into effect. We are to wait in patience for the hope of righteousness through the Holy Spirit (Galatians), our salvation is not a matter of following legalism and human effort-based performance like the best that other religions can offer, but the result of "a new creation". But we do have to work out our salvation with seriousness as it says in Philippians, if we don't seek to abide, we will slip back into a life "in the flesh" with the possibility of losing the faith perhaps amongst life's crises.

Because no one is perfect. I mean some people do mistakes but others keep living there old life style because to the flesh it feels good and they want to make sure things are right with God because they don't want to go to hell.

But that taking away of sin is not automatic. You must go to the source to get it.

sin still has to be repented of. You have to ask for forgiveness. It's not automatic.
