Found a missing bird & have a question, need your help?

Someone lost an African Grey in our town and I'm sure it's sitting on our gate just talking away right now. I want to rescue this poor lost bird and get it back to it's home. I have seen posters all over town. The family posted on craigslist too but did not give his name. I have emailed them. It's too late to call. What do you think would be the best thing to do or say to get this bird to come to me tonight so that I can keep him safe till morning?

It is not too late to call. Repeat---NOT too late. If you have a phone number call as many times as it takes to get hold of them. They will arrive at first light w a cage and hopefully be able to catch their bird. If the bird is tame and you approach it may allow you to hold out your hand for it to step up. No sudden moving and just a normal tone of voice is fine. If it flies off try to see where it lands. But really call. Even if it's the middle of the night---it's not to late. If for some reason the owners have placed a note "don't call after" a certain time I would guess they really don't want there bird back. Otherwise they will want to know about a sighting any time 24/7. I'm speaking as a pet owner, I'd want to get a call no matter the time.

This bird might be tame, MIGHT. Go out very slowly, if you seems a bit scared of you, do not get any closer as you might scare him off and discourage him from visiting again.

If he is okay with you around slowly approach him and see if he will sit on your hand. If you get him on your arm, try to get him inside !

I'm sure the family wouldn't mind a call. If they are loving bird owners they will be over the moon to receive this call, no matter the time of day - or night.

You may be able to go out and tell him to step up and he will step up on your hand or arm then put him in a cage or a box. He is probably hungry by now so offering food would be good to. I would call even though it is late as I am sure they would not mind. You could net him if it comes to that. Or throw a towel over him. Good luck so nice of you to help. :)

attempt putting a cage outdoors your place with some foodstuff in it. Your chicken must be interior of sight. i wish you discover your chicken. yet in destiny save him/her in cage once you're no longer in a position to maintain a competent eye on them. regrettably in spite of a competent trim some birds can fly.
