can my full spine MRI be able to show my orthopedist if I have MS?

im just wondering. I am being referred to the neurologist but it takes months. so im just wondering if the full spine mri can show MS symptoms? or if I just haveto get an MRI of my brain? i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at 16 but ever since then ive continuously had spreading nerve pain, from my low back to my upper back now into my arms and legs, into my tailbone and spine, and most recently i have started to get dizzy and lose my balance and coordination is being effected. so many crazy symptoms and its all freaking me out and causing anxiety. i also see this floater things all the time and even the nerves in my eyes hurt. i dont have insurance so these things take forever to be referred and tests to get done. any input would be great. thanks so much <3

I am so very sorry you are suffering and pray you get the answers you want soon. Not having costly insurance is not in your favor... even if you have medicare often tests are rejected.

I have two very good friends with MS. Different types. On days that Fibromyalgia is seriously affecting me, both of them call with serious problems of their MS also. The difference in the three of us is that I can not get cold with damp and they can not get hot. One of them can't stand a warm shower. The other lives up on a mountain and that works. I can't visit her there.

There are many theories as to why people develop MS. There is no one test that will show them you have it point blank. The most popular theory is that of slow-acting viruses (one that could remain dormant for many years), such as measles, herpes, human T-cell lymphoma, and Epstein-Barr. After being exposed to one of these viruses, some researchers theorize that MS may develop in genetically susceptible people. That theory is also identical to the similar symptoms of a Fibromyalgia diagnosis.

Most researchers believe MS is an auto immune disease which attacks cause inflammation in the Central nervous System and damage to the nerve endings; myelin.

I know several people that have been diagnosed with both Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis.

MRI works best in showing the changes of lesions in the brain. Thus they take one and later another to compare what has gone on if anything. There may be scar tissue in the deep parts of the brain doctors can look for. The problem is similar leisons in the brain can be seen from migraine headaches or in the elderly who do not have MS at all. Even high blood pressure can cause them.

Spinal taps to check the fluid are not conclusive either.

Electrical tests of the nerve pathways, known as evoked potentials, are very helpful in confirming whether MS has affected the auditory, sensory or visual pathways.

One famous hospital in the East had a specialist that told a friend of mine if you did not loose complete use of a limb... or you did not go blind for a day or two... its not it. Others argue that point... but the two friends of mine that did have it lost their sight temporarily and that was the beginning of their diagnosis.

I have learned in studying over 600 Fibromyalgia survivors through the years (only as a patient, I am not a doctor!) that the symptoms of many illnesses we have are so overlapping I am sure sure they are different ! Some labels carry a much higher threat to the body than others. Some are just impossible to live with !

Prof. Anat Achiron of Tel Aviv University’s Sackler Faculty of Medicine and the vice-dean of Research at Sheba Medical Center has found a way of detecting MS in the blood. Her findings, which was published in the journal Neurobiology of Disease, may help pave the way for early diagnosis of MS as well as make early treatment of the disease possible.

MS is not supposed to be genetic. I often fight that word. Ok, not handed down from one to another to another... but those genes are there that put you at risk.

Dr. Achiron said:"We theorized that if we looked at the gene expression signature of blood cells in healthy people, we could look for possible biological markers that characterize those who subsequently developed MS.The early genetic markers may now be used to test individuals for MS as early as nine years before they start developing symptoms."

Search that name on the net with MS attached to it and read all you can.

I wonder if it might be cheaper to send her a blood sample... can you do that to Israel?

Good luck, I will pray for you. Regardless of which of the horrible labels we are dealt, life is not what it should be. I do find that Vitamin D3 and Fish or Kril Oil and the B vitamins are all suggested for both of these illnesses. Read all you can about Fibromyalgia and Multiple Sclerosis from forums and see what helps people and do what they say..... it might be better than the hard core drugs.

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus. Many of us already have the cold sore virus dormant in our bodies, and never have a flare up of cold sores. We contracted it as children, as it is a very common virus, and children pick it up easily as they often share food and drinks, and may be less concerned about hand washing and hygiene. Cold sores can be transmitted even when the person does not have a cold sore, though it is less likely to happen then.

remember that you can remove genital warts by surgery, freezing, laser, acid or cream but genital warts can reappear again and again because genital warts appears when your immune system is weak!

I got diagnosed with herpes type 2 about seven years ago, when I was still in college and had a stupid one-night stand. However, Not only was I able to remove all traces of the herpes virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to start dating again!
