which vapor steam cleaner is best for killing fleas?

Apparently no other product can kill fleas in some state of their development cycle, but steam can burst their shell. I am taking a heavy class load and have no time for this. I need something FAST, EASY, that gets steam to temps greater than 140 degrees (needed to kill fleas). I have hardwood floors so I want one that does not drench the floor. Since I have animals I would like the cleaning aspect as well...like if I am going to spend the money and have an appliance cluttering up, I would want it to be able to clean grout too. I am not expecting it to clean everything in my house, just floors. Carpets are a don't care...I have throw rugs and throw them in the wash. I do not want to pre-mop or vacuum. I want one product to do it all. I am not very picky but it has to be hot to kill fleas and it has to do at least a fair job of cleaning so I don't have to do it twice. I don't want to spend over $200. And it should be light weight (or it won't be easy). I don't think I 'd mind refilling it partway in order to keep the unit light. The right product might turn me from an indifferent housekeeper into a clean freak. Thanks for any help!

Update:

I bombed, it did no good. Only steam can kill fleas in all stages of growth. I guess I will premise spray to kill the adults, then steam to kill everything else.

The other answerer is right. You won't be able to steam all the fleas, which means you can't eliminate your flea infestation with steam.

However, you can kill fleas with baking soda. First treat all pets with a flea bath. Flea shampoos are available at pet stores and most grocery and drug stores. If treating a cat, make sure you use a flea shampoo made for cats. Flea shampoos that are made for dogs can harm a cat.

    After treating your pets:

    •Step 1

Sprinkle baking soda on your carpet and furniture. You will want to use a generous amount.

    •Step 2

Once the carpet and furniture is covered you will want to rub the baking soda into both using a broom. You want to make sure the baking soda gets down to the base of the carpet where fleas are laying their eggs.

    •Step 3

Leave the baking soda on the carpet and furniture for 48 hours and then vacuum thoroughly.

    •Step 4

Once you are done vacuuming you will want to remove the vacuum bag and put it in a freezer bag. You will want to put the bag in the freezer for at least twenty four hours before throwing it in the garbage. This will ensure that the eggs can not hatch.

    •Step 5

Repeat this entire process for a week to ensure the fleas are completely gone. It may seem time consuming, but it is much better then having to fumigate your entire house.

I would use baking soda, as opposed to Diatomaceous Earth (DE). Yes, DE works, but DE also cut lungs in both people and pets, so it's dangerous. Baking soda is gentle on people but will kill the fleas.

I would also use baking soda as opposed to Borax. Borax is a poison that is harmful to people and pets. Plus it has been banned in many countries.

You surely must know the you cannot steam all the fleas!!! There is a bomb type thing for home use but use it carefully. You have to be out of the house for a long period of time.
