Why Do People Here Think Internet Jobs Are A Scam?

I see a lot of skepticism here every time someone asks if it is possible to make money at home from the Internet. I'm just wondering, why is this? Do you have any experience making money from home? Yes, there are a lot of scams out there, but how does that make working from home not real?

I make a living working on the Internet from home. I literally go to bed or go out with friends, come home or wake up and find I've made money. It's a set and forget kind of deal. I sell from my own websites and do not use any expert skills. So yes, it is possible in my opinion.

Here's what I think the real scam is: Get rich quick schemes. People fail usually not because they've fallen for a scam, but because they think that you can push a magic button and become a millionaire. It takes WORK, just like a business does. I put a lot of effort into the initial set up process, but after that it runs on its own.

Then you have things like surveys, stuffing envelopes, etc which while possible to make something, no way will you make a living and in my opinion is not worth the time or effort.

So I am open to hear from everyone... do you think making money on the Internet is a scam? Really love to hear your opinions, thank you! :)

Update:

@falsi fiable: I don't quite understand, are you refering to making money off the Internet (with no skills) full stop? If so, how do I explain the cheques and bank deposits I receive? D:

But I do completely agree with you when you say if they don't tell you exactly what you will be expected to do (especially if they make it sound like you'll have $10,000 by the end of the week) then run far, far in the opposite direction.

Update 2:

I find a problem that lots of people need solving, then get someone to write a book/course on it for me. I may add more value by interviewing an expert or doing my own extra research. Put up a webpage with Wordpress (minimum/almost zero web skills required) and get traffic in. That's the basics of it, no special skills, just work and motivation. :)

Making money from the Internet is possible. Ebay and Google are extremely wealthy companies.

But some advertisements that promise you will make money are either a scam - to benefit the advertiser at the expense of the customer, or they, as you suggest, are highly exploitative.

It's fraud. Do not deposit that worthless check in the bank. Do not send any money order to anyone anywhere. Tell your husband this is dangerous. The question is where the worthless check came from. You need to turn this over to the police who can then send it on to the FBI. One reason the check is so "small" is that the FBI generally does not get involved with investigations of amounts less than 5000 dollars. But if there are several of these checks from the same people then the total amount becomes interesting to them. Let's hope the FBI gets interested. Your problem is the scammer knows where you live and can find your telephone number and start hassling you by using "no contract" cell phones. Or the scammer can have his associate in the Phillipines make phone calls over the Internet to hassle you.

Unless you have very specific skills, such as graphic design, web design, computer programming or sell on eBay, Amazon or Etsy, there are no real internet work at home jobs. On line jobs are just another urban myth. You will just be bombarded with all kinds of work at home scams such as envelope stuffing, data entry, home assembly, medical transcription, reading e mails, surveys, etc.

    They're all scams. All 100%.

When the people never tell you explicitly what you do that generates revenue to pay you, that's a sure sign of a scam.

EDIT: You never told us what you do that generates money. If it's such a secret, it's a scam. If I have to pay to get an overview, it's a scam.
