Christians- How can God love people equally, yet have "chosen" people?
I know I'm not one because I'm Deaf, but others who are "chosen" because they're not "broken" like you call me- how is that fair? How is it God can love people equally, die for ALL mans' sins, yet only have certain "chosen" people who will see paradise?
Again- I know I'm already damned since I am Deaf. I'm damned because I was raped. I'm damned because I have questions about my faith. I don't get why, but Christians have already told me I am. And why would God's children lie to someone- therefore, must be true.

Good question. Very logical. There is little to add except that perhaps He doesn't get into the small things, like individual people's lives.

Dear sk8tergirl,
After reading your question I wish I could empathize with your deafness and understand life the way you have to live it as a result of your deafness. Let me say of the bat that God does not choose people to be deaf or to not be deaf. That is just a result of your DNA and heredity, quite possibly a mutation in your genetic code. Although I do not know the reasons for your deafness, I can honestly explain my belief in God. I'm Christian but unconventional since I do not follow all what is said on the Bible. I believe God is seen in all of us and that he loves us so much that we cannot even rationalize on that love. I do not believe in hell but rather heaven and purgatory. I would never believe in a god that will eternally damn people because of mistakes. Being deaf is not even a mistake, it is not your fault. In addition I believe in the spirit in all human beings. Whatever makes us conscious, alive, and the thing that helps answer what is the meaning of life. The human spirit is not affected by disabilities or anything of that sort.
You are not broken at all, and while no one is perfect, I hate to see that you think you are broken. You are human and above all else you have life, a life that you can live and love. I am not disabled but I have trouble walking due to a knee injury that gives chronic pain. That was not a result of God but rather nature, nature that has no conscience.
Jesus died for all our sins to save the souls of everyone, no matter what race, religion, time period, or any other factor involved. Jesus messages stressed love and forgiveness to all, and he healed many people along his journey. I wish God would do that to everyone but he cannot without interfering with the lives of everyone. God sent Jesus to send his message so that we will not be saved physically but rather spiritually.
It is very hard for me to write this because I cannot imagine my life if I was deaf. As for chosen people God doesn't specify one group, he says all the people on Earth are his chosen people. In the one of John's letters John states o e of Jesus' teachings. If you know love, you know God. Thinking about what love is is hard, since it can never be formally be defined.
If there is one book to inspire me which in turn may inspire you is the Ultimate Gift by Jim Stovall. He is an author that is blind but his works continue to inspire me. He is my fav author.

The only way you can be "damned" is if you have rejected the holy spirit. In other words you reject God. God doesnt pick people by athletic ability or any other ability. If you read the bible you will see that God chose the worst people to be his representatives. Liars, murderers, adulterers. He chose them and then changed their lives. They became something great because they repented of their sin. God knows in advance, but you dont. You have the ability to accept God, repent, and change your life. He already knows if you will or not.
BTW not everyone who claims to be a christian is a christian, so be careful who you listen to. If it goes against the bible than you know its not right. If you dont know what the bible says then you can be easily decieved.

Easy. The chosen people accept the idea that someone greater than themselves loves them. Therefore, they get chosen simply because they tend to look on the bright side of things.
The unchosen lot, accept the idea that someone or something out there, including the big wide world, is out to get them and also hates them. Therefore, they never get chosen for anything, They are negative people with negative ideas and mindsets about anything and everything, including God and the existence of God.

The chosen people who will see Him in heaven are the people who choose Him. The chosen people of the OT are the Israelites. And they were chosen by God to reveal His plan to the world and to show His power. The Bible says God would have all men to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. But man has to choose to accept that.

No, you're a bit confused. God doesn't look at me and go "I will choose her" (but not you). Referring to the "chosen people", perhaps you are thinking of the nation of Israel? They were always God's people. Why? Because they worshipped Him, the one true God.
Being deaf doesn't mean you are not "chosen" either. A person who believes in Christ is saved, one who does not believe in Him is not saved. It's really that simple.

I think this question is better directed at Jews.
For Christians and their saying only Christians see paradise, the idea is that you have to accept Jesus's sacrifice-yes he died for everyone but if you don't care than, according to many of them, it's eternal hell for you. Whatever that means.

although this causes a lot of problems for jews
who believe that being born a jew automatically grants one a place in the world to come
with the exception of born jews who really blow it
this is actually a pretty easy answer for christians.
christians believe anyone can be saved, it doesn't matter what your background is
of course, this means it's harder to be saved
it takes effort, a lot of it, and people don't want to hear that

Are you referring to the elect? God has always known who will be saved. Our own choices are the cause of our salvation. We can accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and receive the free gift of salvation, or we can reject it - it's that simple.
