How to fix the shower knob?
The knob feels really loose plus it is really old, it is now making it so it is sooo loose I can not change the water temp, which is really freaking hot!! If I just change the knob will that fix the problem? I'll have to do it myself so how hard will this be??

Sounds like you need a new shower valve. Familiar with plumbing? If you are you know that when you mess with old plumbing, it morphs into a home make-over. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but if I try to simply replace the shower valve, I end up flooding three floors of the house, replacing all the valves in every bathroom, and still getting scalded in the shower after I've finished. But don't let me discourage you. Get some help from the friendly hardware people, get the tools and replacement parts, turn off the water before you begin, and give it a try.
