The family farm of generations is now often stolen, because of the death tax and bought for pennies by the huge agri-businesses.

Farmers would have gone bankrupt long ago without government crop price supports, government built dams, government irrigation projects, government guaranteed loans, and many other subsidies and protections.
Face it, if farmers haven't really stood independently on their own two feet since FDR. It's really funny to hear a farmer from the arid west complain about government interference since government interference is the main thing keeping them in business.
As of 2009, the estate tax exemption level was $3.5 million. That means that only the value of the farm _above_ $3.5 million is taxed. That means the estate tax burden is minimal. Only 0.8% of family farms -- that's only 1 in 250 that pay more than zero estate tax.

I'm for stopping all government involvement in farming, especially the subsidies we taxpayers pay to keep them farming even though the market would cause them to fold.
If one form of government control goes, it should ALL go. You can't have it both ways.

More stupid govt. rules and regulations to contend with never helped the economy in my estimation.
