hi free *****, let's syart with pulling your modem to where you can unplug it from the back just unplug and wait about thirty seconds then plug it back in now reboot your computer when you see your windows logo start tapping f8 scrol down to last good configuration(advance) now try it again and see if you are able to get online then if not than go to control panel then hit the program&features or if you have windows vista or windows xp than we know what the problem really is close this back to your desktop and place your tuneup diskett in your dvd burner and there you will see ethernet and usb chipset then it will ask you to reboot when you get back to your desktop than try it. it should be online but if this is not the problem then call your internet provider and ask for the tech support, they will gladly and politely help you to get online if they don't then time to go to a dsl broadband connection. good luck hope i was helpful to you
Source(s): when you reboot you should never reboot without using the correct way to reboot unless your computer has frozen or you have the blue screen of death and that is one party you don't want to attend so reboot correctly and you can avoid problems like this one. we have all been there done that lol take care :) - Anonymous10 years ago
Shutting down does not affect the internet connection

then roll back ur driver..

Improper shutdown should never cause an internet access problem. Probably you should try restarting your modem.

Chillax...
Shutting directly will not affect much...
I think you need to complain in BSNL Exchange...
