'On this Earth' or 'On this earth'?

I am including this in my personal statement and am uncertain as to which is grammatically correct. I am thinking 'on this earth' because earth may just be referring to the ground beneath our feet. But I'm not entirely certain.

Thanks in advance.

    First one is the planet.

    Second one is dirt.

On this Earth. Planets always start with a capital letter in spelling. If you're standing on the ground, you're standing on the Earth's surface.

If you're talking about the celestial body, then you should capitalize it. =] Like, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune. =]
