Can color blind people drive?

Yes. In fact, the standard colors for incandescent traffic lights are specified for slightly orange red and slightly blue green so red/green color blind drivers can distinguish them better. The less common form of color blindness, blue/orange, can distinguish the red from the green. Newer LED lights have erased that advantage.

I knew a man who was both red/green and blue/orange color blind, and he had no trouble driving. We could sure tell when his wife didn't pick out his clothes in the morning, though!

If you think about how uniform everything is then you realize that you don't really need to see colors to be able to drive. Things like Stop and Yield you could go by the shape of the sign. A simple traffic light is always Red, Yellow, Green(from top to bottom) so even if you couldn't see which color it is you could see which is lit. Yes they can drive and do it just fine as far as obeying the rules of the road.

sure, my brother is colored blind and what he does is he's prevalent with of that the lighting fixtures pass from ideal to backside, pink, yellow, eco-friendly. If he see lighting fixtures that pass area to area this is pink first, then yellow and then eco-friendly. as long as you remember the place the easy is and notice that's lite up you may tension merely nice. to boot the vehicles around you supply you a clue what is going on with the lighting fixtures. LOL
