Overweight runner? how to lose weight?

This is my first year running cross country and I'm still overweight... I'm currently 16 male 5'10 180 lbs. I run a 24 min 5k and 14:30 2 mile and was wondering how can I lose this weight? People have talked to me about how carrying around this extra does me no good, but eating less hasn't worked for me. The season is ending and I'm planning on doing track and field... what should I do during the winter to lose weight?

    Run more mileage. That will help you lose weight and make you a better runner.

    keep running, increase your protein intake, avoid processed foods & refined carbs, drink lotsa water, and see your doctor to rule out a medical cause. starving yourself will cause your body to store more fat.
