Can a cop pull over more than one vehicle at a time?Cops, please, only?

That is, Legally? Or, does he need back up? I know this might be up to the State, the county, the city.

Update:

EDIT: I mean, Back Up to pull the other cars over.? Is it one cop per vehicle?. Not the "situation". I didn't Say that, I Know. They had 8 cops on Me one day. Just Me, Alone.

Update 2:

Peace Officers or ex cops only, please. I want policies and procedures and Law, Not opinions.

Update 3:

Les : Good one, but Pleaese read, As I said I know any cop can ask for backup in any sutuation. I'm asking, again, the P & P and the Law requirements. of multiple pullocers.

I ask because I argued with my dad a cop had to Clock you, so, if you and three buddies were speeding, he could bnly get One of you. Legally, I'm not sure...

yes he can pull over as many people that he can manage to catch with the initial person like for example if hes behind a line of cars and they all run a stop sign then he can pull each one over if he can get their attention

Possibly a department has a policy, not a law.

No state, etc. have any such law. A cop can pull over, waive over, stop or whatever you want to call it as many vehicles at one time he sees, or has a report from another officer seeing, commit a violation.

As to back up, up to the cop.

I've pulled over 3 cars for speeding in a school zone with kids trying to walk while I was on a bicycle.

Our foot guys often stop a couple of cars to at least give them a lecture about yielding to pedestrians.

Hi! Sorry for the unrelated post.

Just wanted to let you know that your PM setting is disabled so I couldn't reply there. I totally agree with what you said, though. It's especially annoying when they ignore the large quantity of good apologetics out there, like William Lane Craig, in favor of knocking down strawmen. :)

no, a cop only has two hands or in some cases one, its very possible that he either lost an arm or was born armless on one side or with a smaller arm. and i know he is not going to be able to hold down one suspect DONT MOVE SCUMBAG YOURE UNDER AREST while trying to have blows with another or even worse shoot at people, cops unfortunately are loaded with weapons and love to use them on people

yes, regardless of jurisdiction, if they see a reason to do so, yes they have the authority.. Do they need back up? depending on the infraction.
