Installing a 460 in an '89 F-150?
My 5.0 302 overheated in my 1989 F-150 and I'm looking everywhere for replacement options. So far, one of my favorite is a cheap 460 with transmission. What extra components and modifications will I need to be able to match this engine with my truck?
Also, I know that 460 was an option for my year model, but I think only on F-250s or larger.

First thing - Engine mounts. Your going to need the correct Engine Mounts, You might have to Get them off a old F-250 and Do some cutting and welding. But with some looking around im sure you could find one that fits Right to your Block and Frame. - Im a Chevy Guy so im not to Smart about what your looking for there.
Second, - You will need the correct cross member to hold the Transmission in place. Might need to do some cut & Weld but you might get lucky and find one that will fit. - once again idk about it. Chevys usually work together nicely.
Next would be a Shorter, Or maybe longer Drive Shaft. - The Different Transmission would make a Size Difference from the Tranny to the axel.
You are going to want to Convert it to Carb, You dont want to go threw the mess of Putting New Computer in it, Or at least i wouldn't...
And doing that comes with a whole new list of tasks...
