What is the law about Halloween candy, treats?

I have heard:"no unsealed, unwrapped". But is it a suggestion, or, law?

I've never heard of anyone arrested over this. I've heard of cops going to someone's door over it, but just once.

I would love to give them something healthier, like apples, nuts. I remember them handing out cigarettes (for my Dad!) when I was a child!

I have some toys that don't go bad if you can't give them away, and are healthier.

There is no law regulating what can and can't be given out on Halloween (provided it's not intentionally dangerous, obviously).

But do keep in mind that if it's unsealed/unwrapped, most parents are going to throw it in the trash as a safety measure. If you want to give out healthy snacks, that's fine, but buy sealed packages or they're just going to end up in the landfill.

If it's a law, it would probably only be a by-law in a particular town. It's not law where I am. The problem with giving away unsealed things is that most parents will throw them out, unless they know you. Toys are a great idea, or little pots of playdoh.

It's only a suggestion. If you're giving out apples or nuts, only give it to people you know. If you give them to strangers, they're going to throw them away. Times have changed and people can't be trusted anymore.
