Warhammer question, can ork spores cause infection?

I'm not big on Warhammer, but I've been interested in the lore and started with the wikipedia article on the Orks. Since Orks reproduce asexually via spores emitted from their corpses, is it possible for another living life form to fall victim to infection by the spores? If so, what are the details? Include symptoms, rate of infection, and prevention methods--assuming any of that information has been officially made known.

As far as i'm aware the spores react in a similar way to plant life, as a result no humans and other races do not become orcs, they do not carry the nessasary genetic traits for the spores to react with and begin the conception of an orc.
