Why are people pessimistic about the USA?
Why does poll after poll show that both liberals and conservatives are pessimistic about the USA? This country is strong and will remain strong for generations to come. Here's my evidence:
-People continue to want to immigrate here for strong rule of law and chances for greater economic freedom and personal prosperity.
-The USA has a vigorous and responsive democratic system and a government that is highly sensitive to the will of the people.
-The North American continent is blessed with vast arable land, a stable climate, and abundant mineral resources.
-American people are tolerant of various religious and cultural views and value cultural diversity because we are not burdened with a thousand-year-old culture ourselves.
-American language and technology are the basis of the world's communication systems.
-American football is a more exciting and dynamic sport than the rest of the world's football.
The USA is great and I don't see any factor changing that any time soon. STARS AND STRIPES BEOTCH

I agree with you. We are going through some setbacks now, but we will get through them and be stronger, just like we always do.

you are right on some points,and wrong as well.people do still want to come here,for two factors,1)they are escaping horrible conditions which makes any alternative look good.2)the history of the past lives in lore as the streets made of gold,but things have changed as we are not as much the land of plenty as we once were.3)you state a government highly sensitive to the will of the people,that is blatantly false as social services are being slashed,school funding reduced and police and fire persons being layed off to save money,those are just a few examples.we do have land and we can argue climate(a quick check on your part would show record flooding and tornadoes,we are a tolerant people to a point i ask what does football have to do with anything,soccer(football)is the most popular sport on the planet,thoughi find that of no consequence have you noticed the massive unrest and protests across the country. .

which is to say NOTHING of the unfunded liabilities for "entitlements" which currently exceed all wealth ever created since the dawn of man
Those of us that can see the projectile of this nation - are not optimistic at what the short sited hacks are doing to buy votes

I disagree with your second point for the past thirty years we have had a bought government that is not responsive to the people but to their pay masters. That is why there is the OWS movement.

That is true - the USA still has all the resources it used to 100 years ago - it's the gov & corrupt politicians that are destroying it.
A great country like the US can only be destroyed from "within" - that is occurring right now.
