Where can I buy a Guinness Cake?
You used to be able to buy these delicious guinness cakes in a tin They were soft fruity and nutty and indescribably delicious but I cannot seem to find anyone selling them now. I have tried Harrods, Fortnum and Maison and John Lewis without success. Anybody know where I can get them?
Yes yes yes yes! I really do not have any difficulty getting a recipe-of course just type it in on google or other and you get the recipe. I suppose I did not make it plain. They used to come in a sealed tin and you had to use a tin opener to get them out. I don't know who made them but they were fantastic which is why I want to find them again. Thank you all but I want to BUY one. (actually more)

I have made it for years here in Canada, it is your common Xmas fruit cake in essence but you marinate the fruits, raisins, peels and grated apples in a few bottles/tins of Guinness or any other stout, I like McKweans Oatmeal stout to, then make up the cake base, it is just butter, eggs, plain flour and leavening or self rising is fine, a dash of salt and vanilla essence and then you fold in the fruits and other things, bake slowly in a slow hob oven for 2-3 hours, 300 d f or 140 d C, let them cool and it is best to wrap them and allow them to mellow for a day or to even a fortnight, I have been making this as my give away Xmas cake for 20+ yrs
