What guns are easy/simple to use?

I'm writng a story, nearly 623 pages and going back editing thing and all that jazz. But I realized I never put what the guns being used were called, I described one as being a desert eagle, another is a double barreled shot gun and another is an m-16 along with an m4. Ive done some research on all the guns, actually went to a shooting range and shot each of them off but I want to know how easy they are for a first time user to use and if anyone has easy to use guns to suggest have at it.

The M16 platform is actually quite complicated to load and shoot if you have no idea how it is done. Often, the charging handle that pulls the bolt back for you isn't even noticed by a person that picks one up for the first time.

The Desert Eagle is far from a beginner's gun (it was designed with Hollywood fiction in mind, though) but BASICALLY operates like most other pistols: insert magazine, cycle slide to load, and make sure the safety is off. Of course, in real life, it jams a lot and is too big to be practical for most anything anyway.

The double barrel shotgun is one of the easiest to use. Most modern ones have internal hammers that automatically cock for you when you load. Usually, you just break the action open (hinge), load, close the action, and then most have an automatic safety that you will always have to slide again to "fire" before pulling the trigger twice. Some have external hammers and no safety. Some have a separate trigger for each barrel.

Source(s): I am an amateur writer and as a firearms collector/instructor, my stories are full of accurate firearms descriptions and usage. Poor firearms usage in novels irritates me.

a semi auto pistol is not easy for a first time shooter and since the desert eagle is commonaly chambered in 50 it certainly wouldnt be an easy pistol for a newb!

I'd suggest a revolver made by the folks at magnum research-they make a number of differant calibers, and are easy to use and operate for a first timers.

same story with the m16 go with some sort of bolt action or even a top break.

Double Action Revolvers are easy for beginners.

Swing out the cylinder, put the bullets in the holes, close the cylinder, pull the trigger.

No safeties. No magazines to insert or eject. If there's a failure to fire, you just pull the trigger again and a fresh round is loaded.

Well, in Hollywood everyone can pick up any gun and use it just fine. The real world is very different, but makes lousy fiction. You can have anything do anything you want.

Give us a brief summery of who is using what and what for and we can help you better. Brief summery, not 10 paragraphs.
