Winchester date of manufacture?
Can anybody tell me what the date of manufacture for a model 70 with a serial number beginning G1953xxx would be? None of the sites that I've visited could provide me with any information. I'm guessing early 90's maybe?

http://oldguns.net/sn_php/windateslookup.php is usually very good at serial number look-ups for Winchesters (this is the page for the Model 70) but it says your serial number has too many numbers (even when I left off the letter.) I used 000 for the xxx.
Verify the number and try there again.
