Why didn't the migration of northerners to the South eradicate the "Dixie" mindset?

For over 40 yrs. the U.S. population has migrated to the Southern states and yet the characteristics of what is typical of the "Dixie" mindset still exists. Why hasn't the South become more mainstream, center-of-the-road in politics, education, religion, etc.?

Because the negative attitudes that one still finds in the south are in rural areas, where Northerners DON'T migrate to. However, fi you go to places like Dallas, Miami, or Atlanta, such attitudes are few and far between.

Northerners act more "tolerant" and "racist" in diverse northern areas when they are near their "educated" friends but when given a chance to be around racist southerners, northerners can be just as bad if not worse.

Just shows that southern pride still exists.
