Muppets - should they have been taken out of storage?
Egad! Jason Segel (one of my fave actors) has made a flick about his pet thing: puppets, but not just that...MUPPETS! I think there was a reason they were "out of circulation", as the film says, for a LONG time! Any ideas how many people want to see them again?

I liked Segel's "Dracula" puppets in "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" because if was funny, but I would not have wanted to sit through a whole movie of it! The way I see it, some people just like puppets and stuff like them. Others don't. It's like film vs. theater. I'm not a theater buff and I can't stand puppets. Same for Muppets.
As the guy says in the above film, "Time for a new show!"

Well you have to think that in our day and age of constant regurgitation why are so many redundant things being brought back. Yogi the bear missed the mark by like 20+ years. Same with Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Smurfs etc... Mainly I think that despite the far and fews like Yo Gabba Gabba and some select animated shows the world of kids cinema and TV BLOWS... We had the muppets and sesame street and solid educational/entertaining kids shows. In short thru saturation and dilution of the gene pool our standards and talent have dropped and we are reduced to movie execs who are too lazy to do their job and create new cinema, its much easier to take on a project that's already done and polish it up and make the same amount of money.
That being said, considering what I saw of his puppet work in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, I welcome it with open arms the same way I did to the Live Pee-Wees Playhouse sans Laurence Fishburne. Atleast its someone you like doing it right?
PS all our amazing childhood milestones in cinema and tv will be dredged up, now that we're so much smarter and have better technology I find it funny that every remake sucks by comparison.

I work at a Disney store, and the trailer plays every 15 minutes and it's driving me insane.
It looks 100% cheesy and not nearly as good as classic muppets. I'd like to see them again, but not like this.

the muppets and jim hensen were the most popular comedy on tv in its day. IMO
this was before home computers.
id take them out of storage just to watch them and enjoy them.
